As the operator of the Department of Conservation and Recreation fire tower in Sharon, Charlie Cicciu keeps an eye on the 28 towns and cities that comprise Norfolk County. The tower is perched above 2,000 acres of Audubon property and on a clear day views up to 100 miles away are possible. Visitors are encouraged to climb the 90 steps to the towers top. While he may credit the tower with supplying him with peace and solitude, Cicciu jumps at the opportunity to teach others about the dangers of fires and how to spot smoke from this secret perch above the trees.
