BOSTON (AP) — Authorities say the owner of a travel agency in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood has been indicted on charges that he cheated immigrant clients out of $90,000 in schemes involving airline tickets and citizenship applications.
The state attorney general’s office said Monday that through her business, Sky Energy Travel Inc., 40-year-old May Woo Lei took money from clients in exchange for help with citizenship applications, but failed to deliver on her promises.
She is also accused of accepting money for airline tickets that she never delivered.
She is charged with 20 counts of larceny over $250.
Complaints about Woo were forwarded to authorities by the Chinese Progressive Association, a Boston advocacy group.
Neither Woo nor her lawyer was available for comment.
