BOSTON (AP) — The USS Constitution Museum will be hosting a lecture on the deep water battles from the War of 1812.

The hour-long talk starting at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Boston museum’s theater will cover the major naval engagements during the war’s first calendar year.

Museum officials say naval historian and local author William H. White will give the lecture, which is free to the public.

The museum, located in Building 22 at the Charlestown Navy Yard, preserves and displays artifacts related to the USS Constitution.

Nicknamed ‘‘Old Ironsides,’’ the vessel is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world.end of story marker
