Marriott-Tower300.jpgMarriott is giving Manhattan hotels a run for their money. Marriott International and Granite Broadway Development signed an agreement last week that will create the tallest hotel, according to Marriott.

The multi-million dollar hotel project, which will occupy space at 1717 Broadway at 54th Street, will be a joint-venture between Marriott's Courtyard and Residence Inn brands. The building will rise over 752 feet, making it the tallest stand-alone hotel building (without office or residential space) in New York. As part of the development, there will also be retail and restaurant space available in the building. The hotels will share a main entrance and arrival lobby on 54th Street, with public areas for the Residence Inn on the 3rd floor and for the Courtyard on the 4th floor.

Here's the breakdown:

The Courtyard by Marriott hotel will have 378 rooms located on floors 6-32. Designed more for the leisure or short-trip business traveler, these rooms will include the standard amenities you're used to, as well as a shared fitness facility on the 34th floor. The 261-room Residence Inn by Marriott - Marriott's popular brand for longer stays - will offer suites on floors 36 through 64, with separate elevator banks to serve these guestrooms. The Residence Inn suites include kitchens and living areas, offering separate space for longer visits. Residence Inn guests also enjoy complimentary full breakfast, free high speed internet, grocery delivery, and laundry facilities.

In an effort to keep up with high-tech hotel trends, the lobby area at the Courtyard and Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park will be offer a high-def interactive guest board, thanks to innovative concepts from GoBoard® technology. You'll be able to access local information, weather, maps, and New York City news via a 55-inch LCD interactive touch screen.

Intrigued? So are we, but patience will be your ticket to the tallest hotel in New York. The Courtyard and Residence Inn Manhattan/Central Park is set to open in late 2013 (we hope in time for the New Year's Eve celebrations).
