Buckingham Palace to become a hotel?
Could Buckingham Palace soon be a hotel? That's the latest rumor from journalist Andrew Marr's new book - The Diamond Queen: Elizabeth II and Her People.
Marr writes that when Prince Charles moves his home to Windsor Castle upon taking the throne, Buckingham Palace could become the home of London tourists.
According to the book, the Prince of Wales is considering uprooting the Royal family from Buckingham Palace in a bid to assert his authority. The palatial estate could then be turned into a historic hotel and events center. A spokesman for Buckingham Palace denied there were any plans to move the heir from his established home.
Prince Charles is the longest sitting heir to the throne, so who knows what will happen when he actually takes over. We do know that Buckingham Palace is already one of the top tourist attraction's in London, so turning it into a hotel could boost tourism significantly. Who wouldn't want to sleep like royalty, in the king's own palace?
No word on what the price per room would be for a night, but we expect it would be pretty princely sum.
