Some will call this historic, others will call it ghastly, but most everyone will be watching as the MS Balmoral sets sail from Southampton, England, retracing the RMS Titanic's original itinerary.

The 12-night journey will start at Southampton on April 8, 2012, where the Titanic originally set sail for its historic journey, and arrive at the site of the iceberg disaster between April 14th-15th – exactly 100 years to the date that tragedy stuck the cruise liner. The Titanic sank at 2:20 am on the morning of April 15, 1912, and at the same time on April 15, 2012, a memorial service will be held on the ship.

The MS Balmoral will continue on to Nova Scotia then head to New York, where the Titanic was originally planning to dock 100 years ago.

According to the Daily Mail, Miles Morgan Travel is handling the bookings. The journey from Southampton to New York is already full, but there is still room available for those who want to be part of the commemorative cruise's return sail leaving from New York. Prices start at around $4,000 (£2,595). Further details can be found at www.titanicmemorialcruise.com.

Readers: What do you think? Is this anniversary cruise tempting fate, or would you book a cabin to retrace the Titanic's sail?
