The Parlor at Mandarin Oriental, Boston 2.jpgLobby treats abound at luxury hotels in Boston.

Mandarin Oriental, Boston announced the opening of The Parlor, a new lobby pop-up concept that will offer traditional afternoon tea by the fireplace in the hotel's lobby off Boylston Street.

The Parlor will feature daily visits from the Holiday Treat Trolley, adorned with gingerbread man decoration kits for children, tea sandwiches, sweet confections, old-fashioned hot cocoa, warm apple cider and signature hot toddies.

The Parlor is open daily from 2-6pm through the holidays, though Mandarin Oriental, Boston insiders tell me it might be a permanent feature.

Looking for other places around Boston to break up the afternoon? Try high-tea at one of the following:

Four Seasons Hotel: Afternoon tea at the Bristol Lounge is a favorite among locals and visitors to Boston. The tea includes scones and breads, jams and curds, tea sandwiches and pastries, and of course, your choice of teas. Afternoon tea is served on the weekends from 3-4:15pm.

L'Espalier at Mandarin Oriental: Every Saturday and Sunday from 2-3:30pm, L'Espalier produces "fantasy tea" offerings including Red Riding Hood's Basket, the Make Way for Ducklings or the Three Blind Mice, all accompanied by a fabulous selection of teas.

Bond at The Langham Hotel: Served daily from 3-5pm, The Metropolitan tea at at Bond features traditional teas with a twist on traditional bites.
