Hit the trail in Maine
Winter birding in Maine means a chance to see thousands of ducks that otherwise nest far to the north or out to sea, says Bob Duchesne, a guide, author, and founder of the Maine Birding Trail website. Duchesne has spent more than three years on the project in collaboration with the Maine Office of Tourism, Maine Audubon, and the state departments of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and Conservation, which provided a grant for a new 30-page trail brochure. Duchesne leads birding trips throughout the state.
