St. Annes Shrine
Think of it as a pilgrimage. St. Annes Shrine on Isle La Motte, Vt., sits pretty as a picture on Lake Champlain, at the original site of Fort St. Anne, the states oldest settlement. Run by the Edmundite Fathers and Brothers, it is open mid-May to mid-October. This is also where the first Mass in Vermont was celebrated, legend has it, and where Samuel de Champlain landed in 1609. Stations of the cross and rustic grottos dot the pine-laden grounds. And for you outdoors folks, they have a pilgrims camping area.
