The Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls. In 1929 the members of the Shelburne Falls Women's Club transformed a potential eyesore by planting flowers on an abandoned trolley bridge in the heart of town. It was such a success, they've done it every year since, attracting 25,000 visitors a year. The plantings are spirited, too, with unusual flowers in intricate combinations. Park on the street and stroll across the Deerfield River on a pedestrian bridge bedecked in the homegrown flowers of civic pride.
