In addition to preserving the home of one of the world's most important 19th century poets, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Longfellow National Historic Site in Cambridge provides a glimpse into life during the 1800s. This building also served as the headquarters for General George Washington during the Siege of Boston.
