4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Cut sourdough bread (crusts removed) into 3/4-inch cubes; melt butter in a small sauce pan and add sage; toss bread cubes with sage butter, salt, and pepper, and toast in a 350-degree oven until golden. Serve with soup.
