Lighthouses of New England

Located halfway between Connecticut and Long Island, this 1877 lighthouse drove some keepers to the brink. According to lighthouse historian Jeremy D'Entremont, one keeper went into a rage and locked himself in the lantern room, where he threatened to destroy the light. After emerging, he threatened to take his own life, but was stopped by a fellow keeper. He was soon fired.
