Shagimaw: Although we've never seen one ourselves, we've heard enough about them to know that they exist in Maine in some form. According to those who have seen them or at least tracked them, the shagimaw is a four-footed animal with two feet like a moose and two like a bear, so it makes tracks that can be pretty difficult to follow — just ask any out-of-state hunter who has tried to track one. Mainers gave up tracking shagimaws long ago. Now we just tell stories about them.
