Downeast & Acadia, Maine

Downeast Maine – a geographic term that encompasses the coastal areas of Bucksport, Machias, Mt. Desert, Ellsworth, and Acadia National Park – is home to some of the state’s most popular destinations. Acadia draws rock climbers, hikers, and kayakers, while neighboring Bar Harbor offers seafood, beer, and shopping, all with a distinctly laid-back atmosphere. Further down the coast, the Ellsworth and Bucksport regions are populated with small, seaside villages, sprawling sand and pebble beaches, and cozy, off-the-beaten track country inns.
