HYANNIS - Such a narrow strip of land and so many places to eat, drink, and be merry. More than two dozen restaurants, from Buzzards Bay to Provincetown, will strut their stuff for the inaugural Cape Cod Life Food & Wine Festival this week.

Kicking it off today is an opening tasting at the Rectrix Aerodrome at Barnstable Municipal Airport in Hyannis from 3-6 p.m. The event will include samples of specialties from Cape restaurants, international wines, presentations from local artists and musicians, and cooking demos by Bill Brodsky of Twenty-Eight Atlantic in Chatham, Paul Cunningham of Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, Gabriel Frasca with Amanda Lydon of Straight Wharf on Nantucket, Todd Winer of the Metropolitan Club in Chestnut Hill, Peter Eco of Stixx & 33 in Boston, and Dante de Magistris of Dante in Cambridge.

The festival includes four Cultural Happy Hours at the Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater, Highfield Hall in Falmouth, the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, and the Cotuit Center for the Arts.

For four days around the Cape, more than two dozen participating restaurants will host dinners, with each place pairing wines with food in a prix fixe format.
