HAMPTON, N.H. - Hampton Beach center closes its main drag this weekend, in preparation for the New Hampshire seacoast's biggest event, the 19th annual Seafood Fest. Over 50 area restaurants serve up their specialties, including fried clams, steamers, chowder, shrimp, and lobster.

Beyond the lines of serving trays, steaming pots, and a 200-foot-long beer tent, there will be activities for visitors of all ages. Over 75 artists and craftspeople will exhibit. The new children's center will be hopping, and street performers and sidewalk sales will line the boardwalk.

If you want to take a break from eating and shopping, 15 bands will take turns on three stages, playing blues, jazz, oldies, and even a little rock 'n' roll. And Saturday evening will wrap up with a big fireworks display.

Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, Hampton, N.H., Sept. 5-7. Friday night (4-9 p.m.) free; Saturday (10-9) and Sunday (10-6) adults $5, 2-day pass $8; under age 12 free. hamptonbeachsea foodfestival.com.
