Georgiaville Pond, Smithfield

A town-owned gem, it has a smallish beach with lifeguards, a little picnic area, and is popular with families with young children, said Silvana Monteiro of Pawtucket, adding that ‘‘the staff is nice, it’s not crowded, the water’s clean, and it’s easy to keep an eye on your kids.’’

Twenty dollars paid at the town-run skating rink (109 Pleasantview Ave.) gets you a season pass that’s good for two years, said T.J. Tullie, town recreation manager. You can get a $4 day pass, but, Tullie said, ‘‘once people go and see how nice it is, they come back for the season pass.’’
