13. 1st hole at Ferncroft Country Club in Danvers Paul Barkhouse, a longtime New England PGA standout, says this par 4 requires an accurate tee shot because of a large bunker on the left and a water hazard on the right. The hole plays between 342 and 401 yards. Barkhouse says 'It fulfills a requirement of mine for a good opening hole -- that is, it is an accurate introduction of all the holes that are to follow.' His recommendation: Focus on your tee shot, and on your approach; the correct club is essential.
