Maybe buying a boat for your special someone is not in your price range this year? Instead, give the gift of boat building lessons at the WoodenBoat School in Brooklin, Maine. The program offers one- and two-week classes to teach the fundamentals of design or about finishing a boat for launch. Tuition for most week-long courses is $750, a two-week “fundamentals” course is $1,150. A week’s lodging is $250, and a week’s camping is $100.
