Broken ribs, a facial gash, compressed vertebrae, fatigue, and fear accompanied Rich Wilson on his third solo race around the world. The internationally known sailor will talk about his recent nonstop race in the Vendee Globe 2008-2009 aboard his Great American III at “Rich Wilson: Around the World Race, France to France.’’ There will be a Q&A, so ask Wilson how he managed to cover 28,790 miles in 121 days and be one of 11 finishers in a field of 30 starters - and, at 58, the oldest. 7:15 tonight. $15. Waterline Center, Essex Shipbuilding Museum, 66 Main St., Essex. 978-768-7541. www.essexshipbuildingmuseum.org
