Monday night - Weather

Posted by Ethan Binns February 11, 2008 10:49 PM

The skiing and riding in New England is exceptional! Some ski areas around the region stand to gain an additional foot Tuesday night into Wednesday this week.

S.G. Advice: This coming Monday is Presidents Day. Make a plan to ski over the weekend. You still have time, but not that much.

This past weeks snow was completely unanticipated. The weather said 2-4 inches and they got 8-12, and then it happened repeatedly. All week, as the snow kept falling, more and more people decided to make the move north for turns.

That was a good call.

From the looks of the weather, the conditions will only improve.

If you are walking around and calling yourself a skier or snowboarder there really is No Excuse not to hit a mountain in New England this coming weekend.

Here is the latest long-range outlook from Jim Roemer and Best Ski Weather.

Props to Jim and all the others on his staff. They have been doing a tremendous job this season. Their forecasting has been more than dependable.

2/11/2008 - For the Northeast---more snow on the way the next 10 days and ALOT OF IT..for some areas (Sponsored by Jay Peak, Vermont)

A weather pattern change that will bring more decent snows to much of New England the next 10-12 days as the mean trough sets up in the east with occasional bouts of colder weather. This will bring back conditions similar to what they were in Mid-December for many ski areas in the Northeast.

The next system later Tuesday and Wednesday promises to bring places like Okemo, Mt. Snow, Mt. Sunapee, Gore, Stratton at least another 5-10" of snow and several inches + over the northern Greens and Adirondacks..stay tuned. A possible Nor'easter is also possible within 7-10 days due to the indices described below....the perfect combination of a negative AO Index, slightly negative NAO and +PNA coming up
