Nothing against speed dating at any local pub, restaurant, or other establishment, but how much can you really get to know about a person in such a tiny amount of allotted time?

That's why Black Mountain's fourth annual chairlift speed dating event – next Saturday in Jackson, N.H. – is a great way for singles to meet on the slopes. Before even engaging in conversation, you already know the other has a passion for skiing or riding, and with nary a high-speed lift at Black, it should offer a leisurely opportunity for some casual conversation.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Lostbo Pub and speed dating runs from 2-4 p.m. with extended après to follow.
