Best Day of the Season?

What's been your best ski day of the season? Hopefully this question brings a mountain of great ski memories. For your skiing sake it should be difficult to dial in one just one day, because there have been so many outstanding ones. If that's not the case, if you haven't hit a few dreamy days of downhill skiing during this epic winter - then you need to get back out there (or re-adjust your scale).

My season started on Nov. 24, with my first turns in Utah powder. While it was tricky getting my bearings at 10,000 feet in a foot of fresh off the Snowbird Tram, it certainly made for an unforgettable kickoff to ski season. December brought fantastic Eastern manmade-conditions at both Okemo and Sunday River, with a boost of natural snow on top of perfectly-groomed corduroy. In January, my lifelong dream of heli-skiing came true with a trip to Bella Coola, British Columbia. That trip will continue to cost me, like Doritos, you can' have just one. Once you try it, you are hooked till the bag is empty (or in this case - your bank account is).

In February, I enjoyed carving turns at Stratton and Gunstock, completing my requisite tri-state ski tour. A week out west visiting my son in college meant I had to ski Big Sky, Bridger Bowl and Moonlight Basin in Montana. Yes, I believe our son selected this beautiful state for more than the academic offerings.

March delivered snowy trips to Sugarbush and Sunday River, and so far April has brought some of the best conditions of the year with fresh snow followed by sunshine at Saddleback and Sugarloaf. Which day was "the best?" You know it's a sensational season when there are too many good turns to select just one. Try this annual exercise to reflect on all your memorable days on the mountain. Then go ski some more...
