Sunday River's 12th annual Santa Sunday is next weekend, Dec. 4, but you must make the list, and check it to speak.

If you want to be Santa this Sunday at Sunday River you must register online today by noon. Last year the 250 Santa slots filled in just eight minutes, so no slacker Santas need apply.

Here's the deal, once you register on line, donate $10 or more to Bethel's Rotary Club toy drive, and dress like Santa on Dec 4, you ski free at Sunday River that day and get a bonus lift ticket for another day. All Santas must report for duty for an 11 a.m. Santa Sunday photo shoot, other rules and regs and specific dress code apply (hey, no one ever said it was easy being the jolly man in the big red suit).

If you have never witnessed Santa Sunday, it is a sight to behold, the commute though Bethel and the slopes of Sunday River are a sea of red suited Santas on skis and snowboards, seated side by side on chairlifts, spreading good cheer and ho ho ho's heard across the snow-covered hillside. This event is a good time, and a great photo opp for a great local cause started in 1999.

To register, at exactly noon today, go to

If you don't make one of the 250 Santa slots, it's still festive to ski Sunday River this coming Sunday, sure to put you in the holiday mood, and much more fun than waiting in line to see the Mall Santa Claus.
