Springing into a new season
The good news this weekend is that spring skiing came early.
The bad news is that spring skiing came early.
It was a treat to enjoy the soft snow at Loon yesterday morning, but the reality is that there are only so many days that those conditions can last in one of the warmest Novembers on record. The next few days in New Hampshire show highs in the 50's before a cool down finally comes next weekend. Whether or not the cold finally stick is the biggest question.
The sun at Loon yesterday - which appeared after an eerie, foggy drive across the Kancamagus Highway - allowed some soft bumps to form on Upper Walking Boss, and the season's first corn snow on Seven Brothers. It was an unusual way to start the season, for sure, but hey, who's complaining when you can ski in November without gloves?
If we're doing that in December, then we might have a problem.
