A pair of parties in Boston will kick off ski season

The annual Boston Ski and Snowboard Expo takes place beginning Nov. 14, which means there will be plenty of parties and giveaways around town through the weekend, as various ski resorts, equipment providers, and other entities try to get you ready for the season.

There will be two season kickoff parties on Wednesday in Boston. The annual “Blizzard,” presented by Boston Ski and Sports Club, will be held at Royale Boston from 6:30-9:30 p.m., and will feature a number of representatives from resorts including Sunday River, Sugarloaf, and Killington, along with a host of giveaways, including gear, trips, and lift tickets. Attendees will also be treated to the Teton Gravity Research Boston premiere of “The Co-Lab.”

The event will be hosted by 103.3 Amp Radio’s Joe Breezy and Earle Pitt and Kimberly Walleston of The Mountain Report TV show. BSSC will also announce its slate of trips for the upcoming season. The first 500 attendees will also receive goody bags. (Tickets: $20 each, BSSC members save $5. A four-pack of tickets is only $40.)

Also downtown on Wednesday, ticket discount retailer Liftopia will be holding a shindig at Scholars, and will be giving out $50 gift cards, in addition to some other items. There is a limited open bar to open the event, and will be awards for the best-themed ski costume for the night. The event is free, but you must pre-register in advance.
