If snow guns blowing up your Facebook and ski resorts filling your inbox with opening dates aren't enough, here comes Warren Miller. It's a tradition to get amped for alpine skiing with the annual release of Warren Miller movies. My father tells stories about Warren Miller himself showing up at his New Hampshire ski club in his VW with a projector in a rucksack to narrate his annual ski flick in the 1950s. Times have changed in 64 years of Warren Miller Entertainment, narration is now Jonny Moseley, but the excitement for each season's ski film hasn't waned. This winter's "Ticket to Ride" promises tricks and travels with the world's best skiers and snowboarders from Alaska to Montana’s Big Sky, Switzerland's Eiger to exotic Kazakhstan and Greenland.
This year's cast of ski and snowboard characters include Maine's Seth Wescott, New Hampshire freeskier Colby West, US Ski Team's Ted Ligety and Julia Mancuso, and legendary ski mountaineer Chris Davenport. In an all girls segment, Gretchen Bleiler goes big in Aspen, while Julia Mancuso, Jess McMillan, and Sierra Quitiquit ski Iceland’s Troll Peninsula.
Ticket to Ride's music and mountain scenery are sure to rile you up for ski season. Toss in the bonus that ski resort reps may be on hand giving out lift ticket vouchers and swag and you have yourself a worthwhile pre ski-season movie night. See you on the slopes, and at the show. Next week is the Boston Ski Show, Nov. 14-17.

Eric Wilbur is a lifelong recreational skier who spends most of his winter and spring in the mountains of New England. He does not ski in jeans. You can read more of Eric's work here.
Heather Burke is an award winning ski journalist with over a decade of ski news coverage. As a former ski instructor and a ski parent, she knows the ski biz from the inside out. She and her family visit New England ski resorts, as well as the West and Canada, to report on the latest trends and their best family finds. Her husband Greg takes all the accompanying photos, and their work can be seen at www.familyskitrips.com and www.luxuryskitrips.com.
