Christmas spirit and snow are in the air in New England this weekend. Sunday River will have tremendous holiday spirit with their 14th annual Santa Sunday. The signups for Santas are already filled but this is a great event to see while you ski as 250 Santas on skis and snowboards descend the snowy slopes at the River. Also this weekend at Sunday River is "First Drop" on the new terrain park trail T72 which was designed by X-Game free skier and soon to be Olympian Simon Dumont. T72 First Drop opens on Saturday, the lower two thirds of this new trail between Dream Maker and 3-D will feature the largest jump line in the East along with a full jib park.
For a good to the last drop ski event, Smugglers Notch hosts the 19th annual Brewfest après ski on Saturday from 6-10 at the Meeting House. Sample local ales including Long Trail, Switchback, Fiddlehead, Kingdom Brewing, Harpoon, Sam Adams, A-B Shock Top, Red Hook and Magic Hat brewery plus delicious hard ciders from Vermont's Woodchuck Cider, along with a buffet and live music.
For a feel good ski event, Okemo Mountain Resort hosts their 5th annual Cares & Shares day this Saturday. You can ski or ride Okemo for $39 Saturday when you donate 3 nonperishable food items at the ticket window. #Winning = #skiing
Happy Holidays! See you on the slopes.
