Ever thought of taking your family skiing in Idaho? I didn’t think so. As the license plate indicates, Idaho is more about “famous potatoes.” Few people realize that Idaho is the origin of American skiing; Sun Valley was the first ski resort in America. Even fewer go to Idaho on a family ski trip – that was good news for us when we visited last February. We skied five of Idaho’s 18 ski areas and loved the thumbs-up shaped state for its wide open snowy slopes, spectacular scenery and genuine Idahoans.
