Be the captain
The middle section of Lake George is a popular area for sailors who tack around Dome Island, an uninhabited forest that looks almost tropical. Or head farther north into a passageway, known as the Narrows, that is dotted with islands. Try your hand at the tiller on a leisurely two-hour cruise or take sailing lessons at the upscale resort The Sagamore. It uses Colgate 26s, sturdy rigs with a cockpit so spacious an instructor has room to maneuver around his students.
