Hiding out

Locals in Marshfield adore Rexhame Beach not just for its pounding Atlantic surf, but also for its hidden shoreline along the calm South River. Head to the far end of the parking lot and follow the paths through the dunes to gentle wading pools and invitingly soft sand. If you’re lucky, you can snag a spot nestled between the dunes, tucked away from wind and beachgoers’ chatter. Rexhame is one of the few town beaches that welcomes nonresidents (for a fee, of course), although Marshfield does limit the number of cars on weekends to 25.
