A Walk in the Park

New this summer among the 120 miles of hiking trails at Acadia National Park is a 2.6-mile crushed-gravel path connecting the sidewalks of Bar Harbor with park trails, including the challenging Precipice Trail. The relatively flat Schooner Head Path breaks out to views of open meadow and the cliffs of Champlain Mountain. It also cuts down on vehicles in the park and allows less ambitious hikers to retreat to civilization.
Trail parallels Schooner Head Road, Bar Harbor, and begins in the Compass Harbor area, near Jackson Laboratory, nps.gov/acad.
