Outfitters at River's Edge Sports in Oquossoc, in the Rangeley Lakes region, can make a family canoe day trip on the Kennebago River easy, including a shuttle to the put-in for a 5-mile paddle of mostly flat water with current. Merganser ducks and fly fishermen are both common sights; a little luck and an early departure may also bring a moose or two across your path.
