2. The Temple of Artemis Considered one of the most beautiful structures ever built, the temple was constructed around 550 B.C. for the Greek god Artemis in present-day Turkey. The rectangular structure was complete with bronze statues contributed by some of the world's best artists. Some of these treasures remain in the British Museum in London.
