The Earthwatch Institute is a program that offers a bevy of different options for prospective travelers to dedicate their time. From protecting leatherback turtles in the Virgin islands, to digging for the origin of humans in Tanzania, the program's goal is to "help the world realize its goal of a sustainable environment." Travel costs can, however, run from $1,500- $4,500 before airfare costs.
