Universal Studios Florida, Orlando, and Universal Studios Hollywood, California
Judged solely on their merits as coasters, the two Mummy rides don't belong on a top-10 list. But they represent the cutting edge of new-age hybrid attractions that combine the kinetic kicks of a roller coaster with the razzle-dazzle of an effects-laden indoor "dark" ride. With their inky darkness, creepy scarabs, leaping mummies and other freak-outs, the rides pour on psychological thrills. But Universal, never shy about delivering in-your-face fun, also unleashes physical thrills with surprisingly potent, if brief, coaster experiences. You'll be screaming for your mommy.
