How to get there

By air: The nearest airport is in Perpignan-Rivesaltes. From Paris Orly on Air France is $220-$320 round trip.
By train: 25 minutes south from Perpignan; 2 hours, 45 minutes north from Barcelona.
By car: Route N114 south from Perpignan.

Where to stay

Hotel Princes de Catalogne
Rue des Palmiers, Collioure
Located in a cul-de-sac off the main street. Four floors with blue-shuttered windows overlook the small town. Open year round, 100 yards from the Mediterranean. Doubles: $67-$82.

Where to eat

Le Tremail
1, rue Arago, Collioure
Traditional Catalan cooking and seafood, a block from the beach. Specialties include salad with anchovies, grilled fish with roasted potatoes and red peppers, and tomatoes and tapenade on croustades. Dinner: $26 and a la carte.

Le San Vicens
Avenue Boramar, Collioure
A seafront terrace with striped blue chairs and umbrellas. Menu features fresh seafood platters with lobster, shrimp, oysters, and mussels, as well as bouillabaisse, paella, and mixed grilled fish. Or just have coffee and dessert. Dinner: $19-$32 and a la carte.
