These ships unload thousands of tourists into the citys narrow streets and bridges. They also displace a lot of water into the surrounding canals. Studies have suggested they pose no threat to the citys physical fabric. But Anna Somers Cocks, chairman of Venice in Peril, doubts the independence of these studies, and laments plans to build yet another dock for them in the port.
