A monarch butterfly emerges from the chrysalis. This butterfly is a fourth-generation butterfly from those that left Mexico in the spring. This generation will live for about six months and will make its way from New England 2,000 miles to the mountains of Mexico. If all goes well and it survives the trip south and a winter in Mexico, it will begin the journey north in the spring of 2009.
