JUNE 13-15 AVON, OHIO

Avon Heritage Duct Tape Festival: In this small city about 20 miles west of Cleveland duct tape isn't just for home repairs and sealing boxes, it's a way of life. The self-proclaimed "Duct Tape Capital of the World," also known as the home base for Duck brand duct tape, hosts a celebration of the adhesive each year with a weekend festival timed for Father's Day. Activities include a duct fashion show (last year, Adrienne Beiler of Salisbury, Pa., wore a prom dress made entirely of duct tape) and a parade with floats made entirely out of, you guessed it, duct tape. This year's event has a pirate theme, so activities include an eye-patch-making activity for children and a treasure hunt.

Veteran's Memorial Park, 866-818-1116, avonducttapefestival.com.

JUNE 27-29 RUSTON, LA.

Squire Creek Louisiana Peach Festival: You can eat them canned, in pies, in jams, in ice cream, right off the tree, and while listening to swing music. The peachy weekend, mostly held at the Ruston Civic Center, also includes contests, a rodeo, and a Princess Peach pageant. The Ruston-Lincoln Chamber of Commerce reminds you that one peach is under 40 calories. Ruston Civic Center, 401 North Trenton St., 318-255-2031, louisianapeachfestival.org, $5, $3.

JULY 11-13 TINMOUTH, VT.

Solarfest: Forget-Me-Not Farm hosts a green extravaganza where you can check out workshops on renewable energy, agriculture, and solar power. Guests include Dar Williams and food activist Frances Moore Lappe. Forget-Me-Not Farm, 12 McNamara Road, 802-235-2718, solarfest.org, $10-$30.

JULY 9-13 OKEMAH, OKLA.

Woody Guthrie Folk Festival: Also known as WoodyFest, this celebration around Guthrie's birthplace has food, crafts, and a number of entertainers (including Judy Collins) singing their own songs and tributes to the man who said "this land was made for you and me." Feel free to tour the town's Woody-themed murals, its Woody statues, and his boyhood home. 918-623-2440, woodyguthrie.com.

JUNE 26-29 MINNEAPOLIS

Twin Cities Improv Festival: The improv group Five Man Job hosts this comedy event with local theater Brave New Workshop and the parody newspaper (also known as "America's Finest News Source") The Onion. This year's lineup includes ColdTowne, a troupe that formed in New Orleans but moved to Austin, Texas, after Hurricane Katrina, and another Austin group, Girls Girls Girls, an all-female musical comedy team. A schedule and ticket prices should be posted online this week. Brave New Workshop theater, 2605 Hennepin Ave. South, 612-332-6620, twincitiesimprovfestival.com.

PLAN AHEAD

SEPT. 26-28 FRANKLIN, IND.

'B' Movie Celebration: According to the folks who plan this lineup, if you've never seen "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" or "Attack of the Crab Monsters," you just haven't lived. During the weekend of sub-par-yet-addictive cinema, you'll also see some Lon Chaney, science fiction aplenty, and B-list erotic films that are more ridiculous than sexy. 1-800-838-3006, 317-225-9767, bmoviecelebration.com.
