Every Wednesday at the W Hotel San Francisco's XYZ Bar, a DJ sets up in the lounge and the sommelier serves unusual, high-end wines from around the world -- including local California wine country reserves -- ranging in price from $15 to $42 per glass.
The wines are paired with complimentary canapes: ahi tuna carpaccio with blood orange and daikon; speck prosciutto with asparagus and spiced nuts; fennel-cured beef tenderloin with sunchoke puree.
The best deal in the house is the "Tasting" Wine Flight: for $68, you get a full glass of champagne to start, plus two 3-ounce glasses of wine, and a 1.5-ounce glass of dessert wine.
