Ken Burns
From jazz to baseball to the American Civil War, Ken Burns has won critical praise for historical documentaries. Exhaustively researched, his films magnify sweeping human events and popular culture, bringing both into context and clarity. An Oscar nominee, he entices his audience to rethink the American experience. His latest project is about America’s national parks, and will premiere in September.
about national parks
North Cascades National Park
About 60 national parks are included in the National Park Service network. From Maine to California, they are home to some of the most diverse wildlife and breathtaking views in the world. President Franklin D. Roosevelt said of our national parks, "There is nothing so American as our national parks. The fundamental idea behind the parks is that the country belongs to the people..." Take a tour.
The prize
