    At the picturesque Fort Hill in Eastham, you’ll find the Fort Hill Trail and the Red Maple Swamp Trail, a 2-mile series of paths through open fields and woods along Nauset Marsh.

    At the Salt Pond Visitors Center, visitors can explore the Nauset Marsh whether by just viewing it from the deck or by following the 1½-mile trail that loops past Salt Pond.

    Nauset Marsh stretches to Coast Guard Beach behind the former Coast Guard station.

    Annually ranked one of America’s Top 10 beaches, Coast Guard beach is what author Henry David Thoreau once called “The Great Beach.” Legend says that this is the first beach seen by the Pilgrims from the Mayflower in 1620.

    One mile north of Coast Guard Beach on Ocean Drive, you’ll find the defining Cape image of the Nauset Light and Nauset Beach.

    Wellfleet includes one trail end of the 22-mile Cape Cod Rail Trail, which runs to Dennis along a former railroad track. The paved surface and relative ease of the trail make it an attractive biking option for all levels.

    If you have a bike with you, another nice area to utilize it in Wellfleet is along the stretch of Ocean Drive, which includes beaches Le Count Hollow, White Crest Beach, Cahoon Hollow, and Newcomb Hollow.

    The ride along Ocean Drive provides some opportune views of the Atlantic, and the classic images of dunes on the Cape.
