NORTH CONWAY, N.H. — New Hampshire’s Mount Washington Valley is an outdoor enthusiasts’ playground. Tubing down the sandy Saco River or scaling the cliffs of Cathedral Ledge generates an appetite, so rather than head inside to refuel, try one of the many eateries in the shadow of the Presidential Range.

It’s hard to beat Frontside Grind’s breakfast sandwiches, which you can eat on an airy porch with views of the Moat Mountains. The skateboard-themed cafe roasts its own beans, so don’t miss an Organic Bali Blue Moon. If it’s later in the day, try the locals’ favorite, a hummus, veggie, and hot sauce bagel sandwich, $5-$7.
