Wildcat Mountain, NH
12/27/04: After receiving 10-14 inches of new snow through Sunday into Monday Morning it was no surprise to see an email from a friend at Wildcat Mountain in my inbox. The mountain is a year-round, family-owned business, located on 100% National Forest land in the heart of the White Mountain National Forest in Pinkham Notch, NH.

"We've already received over four feet of natural snow this season," says Tom Caughey, General Manager of Wildcat Mountain. "We're skiing top-to-bottom, and we were all but 100% open until last Thursday. We experienced a minor setback with some rain, but we still have 80% of the mountain open and over 30 trails of skiing & riding. Conditions were great today!"
Ten to Fourteen inches of snowfall in 36 hours will usually equal some great powder skiing and riding just about anywhere that is not flat.
Wildcat is hosting ski demos starting Friday, 12/30/04 through Sunday, 01/02/05. This is a great place to head if you are looking to spend some of your holiday monies on new skis. Also, do not miss the live music and entertainment in the Pub. Check out Wildcat’s Events for all the details.

Here are several more reasons why the area is one of my favorites. Wildcat Mountain was rated #1 for Scenery in the East, and Top Ten for Snow Quality, Terrain, Challenge and Value (SKI Magazine, Oct. 2004).
