Irish Eyes are Smiling!

And so are the eyes of all skiers and riders in the North East. Here we are, six days away from the official start of spring, which is set up to be the best we have seen in several years here in New England. Old Man Winter and Mother Nature teamed up over the past month and gave us as good of ski weather as we have seen in a long time. If you have been procrastinating, waiting for the frigid air to back out, now is your time.

Not buying it? Take a look at Snow Country. Note the base depths and percents of open terrain. Resorts and areas are in tremendous shape for this weekend and far beyond. Reminder: St. Patrick’s Day is this Thursday! Good excuse to be making that call on Friday and spend a three day weekend on the slopes.

Both Waterville Valley and Sugarbush are selling $17 lift tickets on 3/17/05. Up in Waitsfield, VT think the Blue Tooth, Hide Away or Big World Pub for a few green brews. Check the Message Boards, as deals and events hit my inbox I will be continuously posting them.

The Weather, well… Who knows? Personally, I am still thinking that the old man is not going down to the spring chickens without a fight. I was looking at the television last night and Tim Kelley of NECN said that he had never seen a weather pattern like the one we are currently in? The long and the short of it, nobody has a clue what the weekend will be like, but if you want to believe the long range forecasts they are saying Sunny + temperatures in the 40’s = Breathtaking Days! Here is the catch, New Mexico is getting pounded with a huge snow storm right now, it is moving east and New England could be right in its wheel house. Radar Loop

This Weekend: The US Open Snowboarding Championship at Stratton! (check the link for all the deets) The world’s oldest and largest continuously running snowboard event. With roots that trace back to Suicide Six this competition attracts the world’s best riders and thousands of spectators. Stratton, VT ensures the venue is like nothing else on the snow. I have been to this thing; even if you ski it is still an unbelievable time. Tons of free stuff, parties galore, beautiful people abound from all corners of the snow covered world.....AND 2 FOR 1 PRICED LIFT TICKETS!

The Guru will be there to cheer on all his knuckle dragging friends.

Don’t Stop Thinking Snow!
