Mount Ellen
Been sneaking glances up at the imposing mountain all season as I spent time behind the windshield in Waitsfield, VT. Usually running late, hoping to and fro between Mad River Glen and Sugarbush South. Finally, yesterday I had the opportunity to pay a visit to Sugarbush North for some Spectacular Skiing!
Wicked Wednesday = $25 for a lift ticket. An astounding deal for what North delivers. I can not figure out why No One was there?!?

Dr. Weather---Roemer
Guru Tuesday Report, followed by Roemer's forecast. Snowing like crazy in Waitsfield, VT this morning! Storm arrived late, actually early this AM (first flakes falling around 5:00 AM.) SIX INCHES on the ground in town already, good light snow. Winter storm warning for the area have been extended until tomorrow 8:00 AM, looking at at least a couple feet in the mountains. Thursday will be the Gem!

Marching In with Style!
Conditions right now in New England are at a season’s best. The skiing and riding everywhere is unbelievable! A lot of areas have tallied FIVE feet of new snow in February! The Guru’s phone has been ringing of the hook with reports from friends in Ski Country screaming of untracked, deep fluffy powder in the trees and trails of soft packed snow. Excellent skiing and riding be plentiful, whether you fancy the areas in MA, NH, ME or VT you will not go wrong this weekend.

Mad River Glen, VT – Ski Area
Copious amounts of new snow in the last five days (30+”) in addition to an absence anything the likes of high speed lifts, ticket scanners, cell phone signals and out of control crowds only adds to the appeal of the time warp called a ski area in Fayston, VT.

It’s Go Time!
Best Skiing and Riding of the year for New England will be the rule almost everywhere this weekend. Wicked Awesome Conditions! The Snow Storm we have all been waiting for is on! Granted we have seen record-breaking snow in MA this January, but it really does us no good in the cities. This system took a track about 70 miles further North than most meteorologists (and models) were predicting, hence the mountains across VT, NH & ME are getting buried in powder.

Sunday River, ME
Beat feet up to Bethel Wednesday night, optimistic that the storm off the coast may creep inland enough to touch Sunday River with fresh snow. Not looking for much, just a little top dressing, 4+ would be rich. Been thinking about skiing Maine every since I saw a picture of a keg toss on Saddlebacks website. Sunday River standing to benefit most from any snow was the sound choice.

Night Vision
Fact, with today’s snowfall January 2005 is officially the snowiest January on record for the Bay State. Places like Cape Cod have been absolutely buried. Ski Areas closest to the Hub are getting the most snow out of these latest two systems. You are probably sitting at work. You also may be getting out early. Take advantage of this and hit the slopes for some night skiing/riding and enjoy the best conditions so far this season.

Attitash Report & Roemer Storm Update…
Attitash, NH 12/17/04 – I hit them up for a free lift ticket, and so did hundreds of other individuals. Skiing for free (lawfully) is always good, clean fun. Plus it gave me a chance to catch up with some old friends kicking around the area and to also make some new ones. Conditions were good, the man-made surfaces stood up to heavy skier and rider traffic on Friday. Trails did show some signs of abuse late in the afternoon, but they were all still very edgeable, even with my beat down sticks, the metal on them is as round as my poles…the sides of the slopes were chalk full of loose granular snow.

Alert: More Major Snows coming...
Wednesday morning 12/15 and another major storm system is heading to the East Coast. Unlike what we have seen over the last few days with several disorganized and complex Low Pressure systems coupled with lake effects, this one looks to be a big old fashioned Nor'easter! The storm may bring wide spread blizzard like conditions all across the East.

Powder Day At Jay Peak Resort
December 14, 2004 – Jay Peak has tallied 28” of new snowfall since last Thursday. The mountain is skiing and riding brilliantly. Better yet, I was speaking with Bill Stenger this morning and he told me that the resort plans to be operating at 100% of its terrain by this Friday! Making Jay Peak the first in the East to be fully operational. The resort has not even released that information yet!

Sick Day - Wednesday
When I got around to reading the Saturday morning 12/11 report from Jim Roemer www.bestskiweather.com I smiled. Why you may ask? Because I got on the telephone and booked a condo up at Jay Peak for Monday night after reading his 12/9 report, which was posted for all of you to read (East on Alert) way back when on Thursday evening, at the time no other meteorologist was even mentioning this snow event.

East on Alert, here comes the snow!
I got a phone call from Jim Roemer www.bestskiweather.com this morning (12/9), he was speaking elatedly of much needed snowfall for the East! A huge shot in the arm just in time for the Holidays. He is the only meteorologist out there calling for this snowfall event. Jim is predicting 1 to 2 feet in some places across New England by the end of the day Tuesday. No doubt more of them will eventually follow. Giving his track record, you would be wise to acknowledge the forecast. Make plans to get north. His entire report is attached below….

Conditions Improving Across the East!
Jay Peak is the early front-runner for total snowfall, shock-ah. As of Sunday 12/5 they received 18 inches of natural snow in the last six days, bringing Jay's season total to 40". The resort is also taking advantage of the cold temperatures to blow as much snow as possible.

Dr. Weather Flash…tons of snow in parts of S. Canada and Pacific NW
Content below provided by Jim Roemer on 12/4/04 www.bestskiweather.com.
NEW ENGLAND: Snow returns to New England with 3-7" many areas across central Adirondacks to Sugarbush, Stowe, Jay Peak and across to Cannon and Waterville, Valley. Snow making going along fine now. However, significant storm to bring snow and ice north and heavy rain south again (Berkshires, lower Catskills and southern and central Vermont/NH Monday night-Tuesday). Sugarloaf to Sunday River could get modest to heavy snows and possibly some ice.
BEST PLACES: WHERE TO SKI LATER THIS WEEK AND WEEKEND
Tons of snow from two storms could drop 1.5-3.0 feet with some places
3 feet along Pacific and California coast over the next 7 days. Don't
rule out a foot or more around Sunday River.
Stevens Pass, Crystal Mountain, Squaw Valley, Fernie, Banff, Red
Mountain, Mt. Baker, Mt. Hood, Telluride, Crested Butte and possibly Mt. Tremblant and northern Leutians could get dumped on Tuesday.
Alta and Snowbird are great now and could get a few inches this week and possibly a foot.
LONG RANGE—
Major pattern change for at least 5-7 days toward drier and warmer west and possibly east coast storm around the 11th---big rain or snow event.
