Berklee alumni take home seven Grammy awards
Berklee College of Music has reason to boast after Sunday night's Grammy awards ceremony, where Berklee alumni won a total of seven awards, according to a spokeswoman for the college.
To date, approximately 100 Berklee alumni have won more than 220 Grammy awards.
The winners included: songwriter Jeff Bhasker, class of '99, for his work on "We are Young" by Fun, which won Song of the Year.
Clay Cook, class of '98 and member of the Zac Brown Band, won Best Country Album for his group's record, "Uncaged."
Best Jazz Vocal Album went to Esperanza Spalding, class of '05, for her album "Radio Music Society." Spalding also won Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for her work on the song "City of Roses."
Gary Burton, class of '62, took home the title of Best Improvised Jazz Solo for his song "Hot House."
Best Jazz Instrumental Album went to "Unity Band," by the Pat Metheny Unity Band, of which Antonio Sanchez, class of '97, is a member.
And the Best Bluegrass Album was awarded to "Nobody Knows You" by the Steep Canyon Rangers, which includes Nicky Sanders, class of '02.
