The Boston Redevelopment Authority board on Thursday unanimously approved adding an amendment to Boston University’s master plan, which calls for the school to build a seven-story Integrated Life Sciences and Engineering building on its Charles River Campus.

The 149,500 square-foot facility at 610 Commonwealth Ave. would house academic, research, office and administrative space, the authority said. It would replace an existing parking lot.

The project still requires addition development review and approval, officials said.
